Microneedling is an advanced skincare service. It uses a handheld machine with tiny sterilized needles that prick the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Microneedling also opens up micro-channels in the skin for a deeper level of product penetration and effectiveness.
This procedure helps with the following issues:
Hair loss (also called alopecia)
Dark spots or patches on your skin (hyperpigmentation)
Reduced skin elasticity
Fine lines and wrinkles
Microneedling is less expensive than laser treatments, which can cost about four times as much and it may work better for people with darker skin tones because it doesn’t involve heat the way laser treatments do, which can affect your skin’s pigmentation, or color. Be sure to ask your Esthetician what’s best for your skin -- and your budget.
What happens when you get it?
Estheticians or Dermatologists can do this procedure. There are also do it yourself versions you can buy like all other skin care devices but again I highly discourage you to do these procedures on your own to have them done by a professional since you could actually harm your skin if not done properly or with sterilized needles. The procedure takes anywhere from 10-20 minutes depending on the size of the area.
It's best done in a series (4-6 treatments) for noticeable results. I also like to include a 20 minute LED facial to enhance results of needling.
